Neeraj Chopra Javelin Throw | Tokyo Olympic | Neeraj Chopra Won Gold Medal | Pose detection | Artificial Intelligence
The Javelin throw is a track and field event where the javelin, a spear about 2.5 m (8 ft 2 in) in length, is thrown. The javelin thrower gains momentum by running within a predetermined area.
Neeraj Chopra scripted history after winning a gold medal in Javelin throw in Tokyo Olympics 2020. His first throw of 87.58 was enough for
him to earn a gold medal in javelin throw final. Neeraj Chopra became the first ever Indian athlete to win an Olympic title in athletics. Neeraj Chopra became
only the second Indian to win an individual gold in the Olympics, out-performing the field by some distance to immortalize himself as the first track-and-field Games medal-winner for the country.
It feels great that everyone is so happy on this historic win and you would be surprised to know that such events involve science as well. Science then combined with technology is a great combination & here you will see the power.
Fact - The distance covered by javelin depends on the angle at which the stick is thrown and the force applied. And thus, the pose also matters.
The above video detects different poses of Neeraj which helped him win. You can even try this on yourself using this pose detection project - https://projects.funoppia.com/pose/
